First off I'd like to thank all of the SA member for their kind thoughts on the loss of my family pet. And for the suggestions of debt free planning. Having people comment objectively and respectfully is just so gratifying.
Here's the next issue:
I am not so good at flying. I can do a 3 hour flight no problem. As a new non smoker (14 months smoke free!) I can even do a 4 hour flight. But the idea of doing a 12 hour flight scares the daylights out of me. I need to get to Vitoria, Brazil. Is there anywhere in North America that will get me there in less than 13+ hours? I'm not concerned if it takes a day or two to get there. Suggestions gratefully accepted.
Anyone have travel experience? And a thank you.

My fav long flight coping device is to book seat 6A, ask flight attendant to wake me for meals & snacks, use a face mask, neck pillow, ear plugs or Kindle ear buds, self inflate from Library with a wide variety of fiction, non fiction, magazines, How To books, I also take my laptop and two work related projects I've been working on. The thing I hate most is sitting on the runway delayed for unknown reasons.

I take an eye mask, ear plugs and an empty bottle, that i can fill up with water once airside. I don't drink alcohol onboard as it doesn't agree with me there. Because you don't get much exercise for a day, i will ask not to be woken if i'm asleep when the meal comes (some put a sticker on your blanket), as because of the time changes i find there are far too many meals! Othertimes i'll ask for the snack rolls instead of the heated meal. I used to always catch a cold after spending so much time in the enclosed area, but i now use fess nasal spray. Have fun researching your trip!

I suggest looking at large cities as near to halfway between home and the final destination.
