My oldest son is now engaged to a lovely woman. They've been together three years. I'm happy for them. No firm date but they say it will be off season 2014 because it's cheaper. I'm so proud!

Too much to handle. Still off the smokes but would love to have one given what's going on:
1) We just heard that our Aunt overseas has had a massive heart attack and is in a coma, not sure if they have lifted life support.
2) My sib has just been notified that she's number one on the organ transplant list and could get a call any day now (and thanks again to all of you at SA that supported me 2 years ago on the same issue)
3) My best friends daughter is 11 (almost 12) and has just been told that the daughter has a mass the size of an orange on her ovary.

Thank God for an emergency fund. At least I don't have to worry about finding money to deal with all of this.

Squeezed a little extra to my line of credit payment this week to bring it in under $8,000. Started the year at $8,850 and am now sitting at $7,993. I'm targeting $7,200 by the end of March with a stretch goal of getting it under $7K. I have some unpaid time off coming up so it might be tough to meet that goal but I'm up for it.

I just can't believe it.

We were hit with THE storm in the middle of the night. I usually listen to the storm reports and think "really?". Most of the time these storms don't pan out the way the media reports them. Here's my shout out for today. Listen to them! I have at least 10 inches of snow and it's coming down in buckets. We're due for another 9 hours of snow, up to an inch an hour. I haven't seen a snow plow yet. You might want to do what you can to get ready for it. Stay safe and warm.

Whenever I see eye of round on sale there are usually several people lined up to buy a few. I finally bought one (over 4 pounds for $9 for the whole roast). I've googled how to cook the massive beast. Well it turns out it's easy and fantastic. Preheat the oven to 500 F. Sprinkle thyme, garlic, and ground pepper on top. When the oven is pre-heated put the uncovered roast in the oven. Turn down heat immediately to 475 F and cook for 7 minutes per pound. Turn off oven and keep the door closed for 2.5 hours. Check that internal temperature has reached 125 F. Allow to rest for about 15 minutes. Cut thinly and serve. In my case it was too cold so I heated up a gravy and poured it on top. It was fantastic! Now that's cheap and cheerful!
