Re-Store - great deals!

October 30th, 2009 at 01:46 am

Has everyone heard of the Re-Store? It's a warehouse that supports Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity builds homes for those unable to afford a home. The new homeowner has to make 500 hours of sweat equity to build their home. Otherwise the build is done mostly by volunteers. This store has new and used household fixtures including kitchen cabinets, light fixtures, doors, windows etc.

Today I struck gold. We are gutting our bathroom. I bought a Moen shower set for $58. Retail is $280. The faucet set was $130 and retailed for $387. Light fixture was $29, retailed for $99. Saved myself $330. And all for a great cause!

Check it out for a good cause and a good deal.

I was just at one where I bought replacement wheels for an old piece of furniture. Fifty cents each for something I could not buy new at any price....I noticed a lot of used but very nice chandeliers, some old sold wood exterior doors with character galore, and some huge beautiful brand Palladium (SP?) windows. Those you would have to work into your architectural plans before building....I'm going back for replacement storm doors.

It is one of my favorite stores. The new floor and baseboards in our renovated bath are from Restore, as is the faucet in our lower bath. I had to get the pedestal sink from Craigslist, as it was $40 cheaper than restore, all in all a cheap project!

Bought some legs for an ottoman that I was rehabbing there for $2/set of 4.

    Hurray for recycling!

I've donated to them before. I really need to check out the one in our current town.

I have never heard of Re-Store before, but I love the concept and the good that it leads to... where are they based out of? I would like to have some insurance of finding good stuff for house projects when we come back to the States.
