I am a 52 and am working on being fabulous! Downsized from the finance industry in December 2008. Mother of 2 boys, facing an empty nest in 2014. Long term contract employee. Still working on manifesting my passions into income. I have paid off $17,500 in debt since I joined this forum. My last credit card debt was paid off in November 2013.
Hey there. Does anyone have any experience on Ebay? What sells? Do you try to sell lots of small things or a few big things? Any ideas and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Kids name brand clothes. Girls shoes. Kids books. Used printers, electronics. I sell what things I would be getting rid of anyway. I've sold antiques. Those were from my grandparents estate. I check to see how they are selling by checking completed listings before I list. I've sold all sorts of things. Try to think outside the box. Good luck.
Sell any name brand items. People search items by brand so have it in the title. Include pictures- don't scrimp on pics- 2 is generally good. Include all flaws. It might cost you some sales upfront but saves you the stress of dealing with a return. Plus people who receive your items will be pleasantly surprised and come to you again- knowing your quality in descriptions. Have patience. It might not seem worthwhile selling a $2.00 item- but it adds up fast. Pretty soon you will become a whiz at listings and it will take you 2 min to list each item. 2 min is def worth $2.00. And start out selling the low dollar items. People want to see that you have a good feedback record before they will trust you with the expensive purchases.
My blog has a category "making a living off ebay" I sold full time on ebay for over 2 years and used the money to use as a 20% down payment on my recent house purchase. If you want to get an idea of how/what/problems with ebay, my blog postings might help.
as the above posters have said, brand names. also unused and unopened makeup, skin care products and perfume sells fairly well. clothes sell better on a mannequin.
IF you are SURE an item will be bid up eg: if you are selling a DVD and there are 20 the same on there for $20, it will help you to list it at 99c for two reasons: people will bid on it straight away, and your listing fee will be less.
however, don't list something at 99c if you want $50 for it and aren't 100% sure it will sell. chances are you'll sell it for 99c.
calculate the postage before you list it. don't guess! otherwise i can gurantee you will eat up profits by paying more for postage than you thought.
send courtesy emails to people, saying you recieved the payment and/or have sent the item. people like that.
hmmm, that's all my tips for now! hope i helped in some way.
